"Since 1976, good fortune has given me the opportunity to share my tales and songs with thousands of young people from New York State to Aotearoa New Zealand."

my Journey

In 1976 I left a teaching position in a suburban middle school in Western NY because I wanted to live in the back country closer to the earth where I could write stories of the woods for young people.  The adventure first led to the north woods of Maine, and it was there that I learned I was a storyteller of the ancient tradition.

The storytelling provided the resources to live outdoors, travel, and write.  The experiences unfolded into three self-published collections of original songs and stories for children and young adults:  Ballads and Tales of the Woods,  Critters, Woods and Water, and Earth Tales and Bird Song. Thousands of copies of each book found their way into the hands of young readers and I hope to continue that journey today.
