“Teaching” recounts the story of educator, Vietnam veteran, children’s author, peace activist, and wandering storyteller Rick Rogers. A quest to write woodland fiction for children ultimately leads a teacher and veteran to a deeper understanding of the Vietnam War and the Contra War in Nicaragua. Poems, political entreaties, and collections of letters are woven together in a story both from memory and from events as they were recorded at the time in journal entries.
